I've played around with speedlines, trying to get mine to look close to the incredible sense of speed and motion that Yukito Kishiro (creator of Battle Angel Alita) has in almost every panel. I wanted to try to put speedlines on colored art, and came up with this picture. It might be a bit heavy on speedlines and light on background, but meh.
One thing I've learned is that speedlines look best if they're all of similar thickness, which is not the case here. |

The only thing I see that's odd is her hair. It seems very static in comparison to the rest of her, and the speedlines around her ponytail look out of place as a result. Maybe a slightly wilder look to indicate movement?
