Artist's Comments

This is a picture I've been working on for some time now, on and off. My original planning didn't turn out well, so I've rearranged it but I'm still not quite satisfied. There will at least be more tentacles, hopefully soon. I might also work a bit more on the texturing here and there. I've tweaked the woman's expression several times already, but I think she's still lacking something.

Ever since I read Neuromancer as a kid I've liked the idea of a tough female character with a brainy male one. There's no real story behind these characters though. I just picked various themes from games I've played and stories I've read.

UPDATE: I added a few more tentacles.

Can't wait to see it fully completed. The best part of the evil tentacle monster is the eyes that are on the tentacles. How does it even see without like bumping into everything? FFFF but that doesn't even MATTER because Cthulhu doesn't NEED to be realistic about scary as hell eyes.

Also I'm tired. Forgive me if my comment is horrible. I am in love with this piece, and that's all that needs to be said.

Thank you. :) I added the eyes and the maw because plain tentacles are boring.

And now I have to draw it all several times more...

I think the scariest thing about this is the complexity of brain a creature must have to process the sensory input of so many eyes and mouths. Whatever they're fighting must be somewhat intelligent, and I think it's worse to be fighting something with active malice.
yeah I overanalyze stuff

Also he should probably put that book away; it'll get damaged and damaged books are a tragedy.

All that brain power is focused on cosmic, slimy evil. :) But perhaps it can be stopped with some arcane knowledge of spell from the book?
